29.11.2017 President of Turkmenistan and OSCE Secretary General discuss the prospects of cooperation

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger, who arrived in our country to take part in the 28th session of the International Energy Charter Conference.

 

Expressing deep gratitude for the opportunity of a personal meeting, the guest emphasized the OSCE unaltered interest in strengthening the traditional partnership with Turkmenistan in the interests of peace and wellbeing. In this regard, it was underlined the active position of Turkmenistan in developing the international cooperation in its main areas, in particular in such important sphere as energy. That is vividly proved by the initiative approach of Turkmenistan towards the presidency of the International Energy Charter Conference this year, as well as the high organizational level of the Ashgabat forum, aimed at becoming an efficient step towards the development of the balanced solution of the priority tasks of modern time.

Greeting the guest, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the enhancement of the constructive cooperation in the format of authoritative international organisations and structures, including the long-term partner - OSCE stood as one of the key vectors of the foreign-policy course, implemented by our country on the principles of positive neutrality.

The Turkmen leader and his guest exchanged their views on the prospects for the further development of the long-term cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE. Particular attention was paid to the consolidation of efforts to intensify the international dialogue in the energy sector with its huge potential. It was underlined the significance of the specific initiatives put forward by our country to ensure the global energy security, including the production of energy resources, their transportation and consumption.

It was emphasized that the equal partnership in this sphere, built on the optimal balance of mutual interests, served as an integral part of the sustainable development and progress in the world. Possessing the huge resource potential, neutral Turkmenistan is ready to share it with the whole world, implementing the strategy based on the principles of the diversification of the routes of energy resources supplies to the world markets. In this regard, it was emphasized the significant role of the large-scale infrastructural projects, initiated by our country in the regional and international level.

The environmental projects and programmes, in particular the project on saving the Aral Sea and the efficient water management, were specified among the promising areas of cooperation.

The President of Turkmenistan and OSCE Secretary General discussed the opportunities for cooperation in other priority areas, including the transport and communication sector among others.

In conclusion of the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and OSCE Secretary General expressed belief that the constructive dialogue, established between our country and OSCE would promote strengthening the wide international partnership, contributing to the development of positive world processes.
